Mouldy weed has hit Alberta shelves, forcing Newstrike Brands and its subsidiary, Up Cannabis, to issue a recall on a single lot of pot.

The recall, a first of its kind in Alberta since the Oct. 17 legalization, involves 1,428 units of a lot of Up Cannabis’ Eldo seven-gram jars, sold to the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.

The company said the affected product is isolated to the Nov. 28, 2018, packaging date with lot number 1204201, sold only in Alberta.

Retesting of the product detected levels of microbial mould contaminants exceeding acceptable limits.

The AGLC said if you purchased the product online, you can contact the Alberta cannabis call centre at 1-855-436-5677.
