Canada: This is how ordering cannabis online will work

Kelownanow

Wednesday 17 Oct 2018

Although cannabis becomes legal on Wednesday, only one legal dispensary will be opening its doors in British Columbia.

As a result, many people will be ordering their pot online and waiting for it to be brought to their front door.

Today, the Government of B.C. unveiled how that process will work, including the ins and outs of delivery, shipping fees and age verification.

To order online, you’ll go to the website www.bccannabisstores.com, which is governed by the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB).

Once you complete your order, it’ll be delivered by Canada Post who the LDB has entered an agreement with to fulfill online orders.

When it arrives at your house, Canada Post will undertake age-verification checks if you appear to be under the age of 25-years-old, as you have to be 19-years-old to legally order cannabis.

The shipping fee will be $10 and the online orders will be shipped from the LDB’s distribution centre within 48 business hours of the order being placed.

While the site is currently listed as “coming soon,” it’ll be activated and ready for orders once the clock hits midnight tonight.
