Saudi Arabia beheads more people for hashish

Emily Gray Brosious

Saudi Arabia is a scary place to be caught with drugs.

Saudi Arabia executed one of its own citizens and two Yemenis last week. The two Yemeni nationals had been accused of smuggling hashish into the kingdom. The Saudi national had been convicted of smuggling amphetamines, as reported by Agence France Presse.

Hash, or hashish, is made from compressed marijuana trichomes.

The kingdom practices a strict Islamic legal code under which murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy are all punishable by death.

The desert kingdom has executed 63 people so far this year, including 47 people executed in on Jan. 2 alone for “terrorism.”

In 2015, Saudi Arabia executed 153 people, many of which were for drug trafficking.
