The UK Drug Policy Commission (UKDPC) has come up with requests on Monday that the use of some drugs, or small doses of controlled substances (to be precise), should not be considered as criminalizing, according to a recent report.

It is being asked to the MPs that each drug use does not prove problematic for a person. "In fact most users do not experience significant problems, and there is some evidence that drug use can have benefits in some circumstances", the team affirmed.

The appeals are based on a study, which went long for some six years. The independent advisory body of leading scientists, academics and police officers has found that the existing guidelines or policies either have no effect, less effect or a worsening effect on drug users.

As per the findings, the panel has been suggesting minimal sanctions for the ones who grow cannabis for their personal use. Even the report was also focused on replacing the criminal sanctions with civil penalties.

These penalties include fines, which according to the researchers should be imposed on the ones, who are otherwise sentenced for possession of drugs each year. Though, the reason is to stop them from causing an increase in drug use.
