Malaysia: Two Friends Receive Death Penalty For Drug Trafficking
Tuesday 28 Feb 2012
Justice Datuk Zamani Abd Rahim read his decision after finding the defence of the two accused Muhamad Nasir Hussain, 55, an unemployed and R. Murthi, 48, a contractor as merely a denial.
Zamani said an undercover police agent when making the arrest on March 20 2007 had no motive of persecution against the accused.
The two accused were alleged to be trafficking in 20,698.4 grammes of cannabis at Jalan Besar, Nibong Tebal between 3.45 pm and 4.15 pm on March 20 2007.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Guat Cheng while Muhamad Nasir was represented by VM Ravichandran and R.Murthi by R.S.N Rayer.
