Egypt seizes 11 acres of cannabis cropland on border

Al-Arish – Ma'an – Egypt's anti-narcotics squad seized 11 acres of cannabis cropland along the Israeli border on Wednesday, security sources told Ma'an.

During the raid, 1 ton of dried marijuana was confiscated, stored in nearly 500 plastic bags in preparation for smuggling into Israel along the Al-Barth border area south of Rafah, the sources said, with forces locating four marijuana farms.

A further six cannabis farms were raided near the Sinai-Israel border and several marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed, the sources added.

No suspects were detained during either incident.
