UK: Cannabis cafe owner to face drug charge

Liverpool Echo

Friday 29 Apr 2005

---

THE owner of Merseyside's first cannabis cafe will appear in court accused
of a drug offence.

Police arrested businessman Gary Youds during a night raid at the cafe, on
Holt Road, Kensington-yesterday. Mr Youds, 35, of Cavan Road, Clubmoor, was
charged with permitting the use of cannabis on the premises.

He was released on bail and will appear before Liverpool-magistrates next
Thursday.

Liverpool council is trying to shut down the cafe because it does not have
a business licence.

Residents in Kensington scrapped plans for a petition against the cafe
after being invited to tour the cafe, the Chillin Rooms. Enid Bristow, of
Needham residents' association, who visited the property, said: "It's very
nice inside."
