To the Bishop of ...... / your local priest or vicar.

If you believe in God who created this world and all that is in it, then how can you justify laws against nature and God?

God is higher than anyone and He made the laws by which we need to run our lives, and they are surely complete and adequate..

In Genesis, God gives mankind : "All plants that bear seed, anywhere on earth, and every tree bearing fruit which yields seed". Yet the laws made by Britain and other countries quite specifically prohibit us from using a certain plant. Amongst all the plants, even those which are deadly poisonous, the Government has decided to select a few to ban us from. My particular concern is the plant cannabis.

Cannabis is a plant, given to man, like all plants, for our use and survival. Cannabis was on earth before man and has been used in many ways since. This includes its use as a fiber, a fuel, a food, a medicine, a sacrament and a recreational and inspirational relaxant. The law against cannabis is a law against God, nature and man.

Why is cannabis banned? Why must users be punished, fined and thrown into prisons with all their damaging effects? Judging on the many reports from scientific studies which state that smoking cannabis is not damaging to health, is non-addictive, is non-cancer causing, and does not detrimentally effect memory or other physical or mental abilities, it can no longer be claimed that cannabis is banned to protect the health of the individual or society. In fact, it is quite clear that it was never banned for that reason. Our supermarket shelves are full of poisonous products (disinfectants, cleaners etc) and, strangely, we are not prohibited from smoking or drinking them! Neither are we banned from tobacco or alcohol. As Jesus said "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Which of God's Laws does using cannabis transgress? Or is it that such a law was sadly omitted from the Ten Commandments? Cannabis and hashish were widely used in the time of Jesus, yet He did not mention it's use at all. So why was it banned? There is surely a hidden motive. Not so well hidden now, if one examines the situation leading up to 1928, when the Second Opiates Conference included cannabis amongst its list of narcotics to be banned - cannabis has never been a narcotic. The lies and deceit used to falsely justify a prohibition of a plant used for centuries, thus enabling pharmaceutical and petrochemical billionaires to pollute this earth and boost their profits, were well promulgated and now widely believed. If you glance at the many reports about cannabis you will see these lies for what they are, and you will surely come to see that sending over 100,000 UK cannabis users to be punished every year is a sin.

Surely it is not the duty of the Government to make laws which take away some of the Freedom of Choice which God granted us? On the contrary surely it is the duty of every true Christian to fight tyrannical injustice and do what we can to end suffering? The Scottish Kirk has ruled in favour of legalisation. A DEA Judge has said that cannabis is safer than most vegetables which we eat. Top doctors, police, judges, Interpol, have stated in favour of legalisation. Recently The attorney General of Australia, Mr. Jeff Shaw, QC, MLC, has said "I believe that most parents would see the imprisonment of their son or daughter for using cannabis as particularly harmful." The US Kaiser Permanente (1997) has declared "Criminalisation of marijuana use may itself be a health hazard.."

1 Timothy Chapter 4 verse 4 "For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 "for then it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer".

I cannot simply sit by and see these many thousands of people in the UK, millions worldwide, being persecuted and prosecuted and punished for a so-called crime which harms nobody, when the very act of prohibition was against God's Laws.

I realise that officials and clergy are often in the unenviable position of having their own words and opinions governed, controlled or even suppressed and censored, by others. But I feel that the choice is plain if not simple. Should we use our lives to serve God and His purpose? Or should we allow our selves to be led away from truth and Justice by people with unknown motives?

I request you to study the evidence and the facts themselves and to do everything in your power to halt theses evil prosecutions.

Yours sincerely,
